Yspaniola is an education nonprofit building a model of high-quality education programs in Batey Libertad, from preschool through university. After creating successful programs in Batey Libertad, we will replicate our model in other bateys and marginalized communities in the Dominican Republic. Yspaniola’s vision is to provide our graduates with the tools they need to successfully advocate for themselves and their communities. Yspaniola also hosts experiential service-learning trips for international high school and university students to raise awareness about international development and social justice issues on the island.

Yspaniola is seeking a one-year Operations and Development Fellow to support key programmatic work in the Dominican Republic. This includes administrative tasks such as grant writing and donor communications and direct work with local students through teaching assistance and reading hour. This fellowship offers a fantastic opportunity to work in the close-knit community of Batey Libertad as part of a passionate team of local and international staff and senior management. We are committed to mentoring fellows to develop their capacity and understanding of international non-profit management, operations, and development. Fellows have the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to our programs and may also choose to develop a project based on their own interests. The organization is located inland in a rural, agricultural zone, and fellows reside in the town of Esperanza, where Yspaniola’s international staffers are generally the only foreigners living in the vicinity. This position will report to the Executive Director.
