WhyHunger is seeking a dynamic and creative intern for their Artists Against Hunger & Poverty (AAH&P) program (see description below). This person should be dedicated and passionate with a strong interest in working in the music industry as well as a desire to make a positive effect on communities throughout the world. As a member of our team you will work directly with the Director of Artists Against Hunger & Poverty assisting on a variety of artist-related projects and campaigns including: WhyHunger’s annual dinner gala event, auctions, preparation for our annual Hungerthon campaign, any onsite activation at concert events and festivals, and more. You will help to oversee and craft messaging for the AAH&P Facebook page and for our general Twitter account. You’ll assist with guerrilla marketing, monthly newsletters, the development of AAH&P artist proposals, general office duties, and much more. At the end of the internship, you should have a greater understanding of the music industry and the non-profit world and how they intersect at WhyHunger.

You may occasionally be asked to work at events after hours or on the weekend, schedule permitting. The internship will commence upon the candidate’s availability (May/June) and will continue until the end of the summer. This is a paid internship in which you can work up to 20 hours per week.

Artists Against Hunger & Poverty enlists performing artists to help raise funds and awareness for the most innovative and effective community-based organizations working to combat hunger and poverty. AAH&P offers artists, the music industry and the music community an opportunity to take a stand through music.

Qualifications:

·        Experience in music business, communications, marketing or comparable skills

·        Experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media

·        Excellent writing and interpersonal skills

·        Strong attention to detail and follow-up

·        Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently

·        An interest in the issues of hunger, poverty, food justice and social justice

·        A fun and lively personality

·        The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

·        Experience working in Constant Contact is a plus
