Intern, International Senior Lawyers Project-UK

The International Senior Lawyers Project-UK (ISLP-UK) is a UK-based charity with a mission to foster just and accountable development that is sustainable, supportive of human rights, and strengthens the rule of law by mobilising our unique network of highly skilled and experienced pro-bono lawyers to advise civil society and governments.

We seek to achieve our mission through five programme areas:

1. Anti-Bribery and Corruption (including supporting watchdog NGOs and civil society)

2. Community-Inclusive Development

3. Investment and Trade

4. Tax

5. Natural Resources

ISLP-UK works in conjunction with ISLP in New York. In 2017, ISLP-UK and ISLP jointly ran over 100 in-country missions, working with 50 law firms worldwide. These projects employed a wide range of legal strategies from providing onsite mentoring and capacity building to nongovernmental human rights organisations to high level transactional and law reform assistance to the governments of least developed countries. The Internship is unpaid, but travel expenses up to a maximum total of £9 per working day and lunch expenses up to £5 per day will be covered.

Qualifications and experience: The successful candidate(s) will have a keen interest in gaining work experience in the NGO sector and in contributing to ISLP-UK's mission.
