Friendship Ambassadors Foundation is currently accepting applications for internships. We are looking for undergraduate, postgraduate, or professional studies candidates to assist the core staff on the planning and preparations for the 23rd Session of the Youth Assembly to take place in February 2019.


The preferred candidates must be able to commit up to 20 hours per week. These are non paid internship opportunities, traveling reimbursement is provided. A variety of positions are available to qualified applicants living in the Greater New York area.


Youth Development Internship


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Develop new ideas to better engage youth during and post-Youth Assembly
  • Research partners/sponsors for career orientated and professional development opportunities
  • Conduct outreach and follow-up with United Nations Permanent Missions
  • Assist with scheduling Mission Visits
  • Assist with youth leadership programs 
  • Assist with The Youth Assembly social venture competition, the Impact Challenge 
  • Assist in selection process for Youth Assembly awards
  • Assist in creation of youth development panels and info sessions 
  • Identify and engage talented youth during The Youth Assembly
  • Organize and maintain databases
  • Help draft and proofread letters and other communications, as needed
  • Help conduct post-Youth Assembly activities
  • Collaborate with other departmental teams for planning youth engagement and development
  • Assist with other miscellaneous tasks as needed


QUALIFICATIONS


  • 1-2 years’ relevant internship and/or work experience preferred
  • Must have a strong interest in international development and youth development
  • Experience or knowledge of the United Nations preferred
  • Must be able to work under strict deadlines in a collaborative environment 
  • Have a creative approach to developing ideas and solving problems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; email and phone etiquette
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite and G-Suite
  • Strong attention to detail, time-management, and organizational skills
  • Self-starter and a team player
  • Global perspective and strong cultural awareness



Special Events Planning & Logistics Internship


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Assist staff in processing Delegate Package applications and registrations
  • Answer delegate inquiries over the phone and email
  • Help staff in facilitating all conference and especially the special events logistical details and arrangements including supplies, food, transportation, and accommodation
  • Work with the Special Events Planning & Logistics Coordinator in leading groups of delegates during the Youth Assembly and extended programs
  • Proactively troubleshoot any emerging problems during both the planning and the actual days of the event
  • Assisting with other miscellaneous tasks as needed


QUALIFICATIONS


  • 1-2 years’ relevant internship and/or work experience preferred

Graphic Design/Video Content Internship


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Work closely with the Communications Specialist to develop and execute communication strategies for strengthening engagement and support from the Youth Assembly stakeholders and the international community.
  • Understand and translate strategic organization goals and requirements into visually compelling materials
  • Create graphics for social media, website, newsletters, and email campaigns
  • Design, layout, or edit certificates, banners, flyers, booklet, signages, Powerpoint templates, and other conference materials
  • Maintain brand identities across print and digital platforms
  • Coordinate video content development and production
  • Organize and maintain photo, video, and media archives
  • Help maintain and update websites using SquareSpace and WordPress
  • Assist in executing communication activities on site during the Youth Assembly, including interviews, broadcasts, media activations, and documentation
  • Assist the Youth Assembly team with other miscellaneous tasks as needed


QUALIFICATIONS


  • At least one (1) year of relevant internship experience is required; work experience preferred
  • Communications, Marketing, Film/Photography, or Graphic Design major or graduate; International Relations major with interest in Communications are welcome
  • Must be savvy in various social media platforms
  • Exceptional writing and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent phone and email etiquette
  • Graphic design, photography, video editing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, photo and video editing applications
  • Familiarity of content management platforms, web developing tools, HootSuite, HTML, and CSS
  • Must be living in the Greater New York City area
  • Must have a graphic design portfolio


Digital Media/Marketing Internship


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Work closely with the Communications Specialist to develop and execute communication strategies for strengthening engagement and support from the Youth Assembly stakeholders and the international community.
  • Create and distribute engaging content via email campaigns and social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Pitch ideas and write articles for the Youth Assembly blog on The Huffington Post
  • Implement and evaluate effectiveness of social media campaigns
  • Help manage Facebook groups, while engaging and interacting with our social media community
  • Draft or proofread press releases and other communication vehicles as needed
  • Assist the Communications Specialist in handling press inquiries and media outreach
  • Assist in executing communication activities on site during the Youth Assembly, including interviews, broadcasts, media activations, and documentation
  • Assist the Youth Assembly team with other miscellaneous tasks as needed


QUALIFICATIONS


  • At least one (1) year of relevant internship experience is required; work experience preferred
  • Communications, Marketing, Public Relations major or graduate; International Relations major with interest in Communications are welcome
  • Must be savvy in various social media platforms
  • Proven success in social media campaigns, marketing or digital media work
  • Exceptional writing and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent phone and email etiquette
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, photo and video editing applications a plus
  • Familiarity of content management platforms and HootSuite
  • Must be living in the Greater New York City area


Delegate Selection & Registration Internship


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Become a part of the Youth Assembly Selection & Registration Committee, which is in charge of selecting and processing delegate applications based on established procedures
  • Assist Head of the Youth Assembly Selection & Registration Committee in reviewing, selection, and processing of incoming applications and payments
  • Answer delegate inquiries over the phone and email
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down registration/information desk during the Youth Assembly
  • Welcome attendees, distribute their passes, and check-in attendees as they arrive at the desk and distribute their conference materials
  • Proactively troubleshoot any emerging problems during both the planning and the actual days of the event
  • Assist with other miscellaneous tasks as needed

Program Planning and Development Internship


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Work closely with the Programme Specialist to ensure that all aspects the program agenda are done in a timely manner, within budget, and the desired level of quality
  • Propose ideas to develop and improve the conference agenda
  • Proactively troubleshoot any emerging problems during both the planning and the actual days of the event
  • Liaise confidently and professionally with Youth Assembly speakers and presenters
  • Preparing timely thank-you notes to speakers, sponsors, and key partners after the event
  • Conduct post-event evaluation and debriefs to determine how future events can be improved
  • Willing to tackle other duties as assigned to ensure overall success of the Youth Assembly
