About ArtBridge

ArtBridge is a Chelsea-based public art nonprofit. Since 2009 we have turned thousands of feet of NYC's construction fencing into large-scale canvases for local artists, focusing on artists and communities that have been historically marginalized. Our primary current programs are Bridging the Divide -- our artist fellowships at NYCHA developments; and Not a Monolith -- our professional development and community-engaged program for early-career Black artists. More info: art-bridge.org

Communications Fellowship

ArtBridge is seeking a communications fellow. This 8-month fellowship from late-April through December is designed for current students or recent graduates who want to develop professional communication and development skills, while exploring the fields of public art, community engagement, and nonprofit management.

The fellowship will combine considerable hands-on work experience with learning/networking opportunities.

Approximately 15 hours per week, with a flexible work schedule. The position can be fully remote, or you may work in our office in Chelsea, NYC. You do not have to be based in NYC to apply, but you should have some familiarity with the city (i.e. used to live here, virtually attending a college/university in NYC), as much of our work and communications require a basic familiarity with NYC.

Total stipend is $12,500 (approximately $25/hour).

Areas of Work

As a fellow, you can choose to work in different areas based on your experience and inclinations, including some or all of the following:

  • Social media content development
  • Website content development and updates (WordPress)
  • Newsletter and press release drafting
  • Build visual and written narratives around our projects, artists, etc.
  • Assist with development: building sponsorship, partnership, and fundraising decks, materials, strategies, and events.
  • Graphic design for social, website, newsletter, decks, etc.

Ideal Skills / Experiences:

  • You are a current student or a recent graduate, with a focus on fine arts, art administration, communications, or a related field.
  • You are confident in your writing and familiar with these tools: Google Docs/Sheets, Dropbox, Adobe CS. Having experience with Asana and Slack is a plus.
  • You have a strong understanding of social media, especially Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
  • You are willing to implement these skills while learning more about the intersection of design and various forms of branding narratives, within a nonprofit context.
  • You are a quick learner, a good listener, and also a self-starter, having a passion to develop communication strategies to help ArtBridge reach current and target audiences.

Misc

  • Flexible working schedules, and time off as needed throughout the fellowship.
  • Option to be fully remote, the fellow does not need to live in NY.
  • Roughly 80/20 split between hands-on work and mentoring/networking opportunities.
