Position Description: People For the American Way (PFAW) is a public interest organization that works on civil and constitutional rights, federal judicial nominations, voting and citizen participation, and other issues. PFAW is currently seeking a fall 2019 legal intern to assist with legal research and writing. The intern would work with PFAW attorneys on locating, reviewing and analyzing court decisions involving Supreme Court justices and appellate judges nominated by President Trump and writing blog posts and reports concerning those decisions as part of PFAW’s “Confirmed Judges, Confirmed Fears” series. More information about PFAW and its work, including the “Confirmed Judges, Confirmed Fears” project, can be found at http://www.pfaw.org The intern may also be asked to do other legal related tasks as well relating to PFAW’s congressional and electoral work.
This is a paid internship that reports to the Executive Vice President for Policy and Program and is located in Washington, DC.
Intern tasks may include conducting legal research, assisting with analysis of court decisions, and drafting, reviewing, and editing analyses, articles, and reports. Applicants should have strong legal research and writing skills, and at least one year of law school is required. Experience with and interest in civil rights and civil liberties is preferred but not necessarily required.
