    About Us: The English Speaking Union is a dynamic nonprofit organization dedicated to Expands minds Strengthens friendships Unlocks opportunities, through the use of the English language. With a history of 104 years, our educational and cultural programs have enriched the lives of students, teachers, English language learners and ESU members. As we expand our digital presence, we are looking to enhance our branch websites and focus on search engine optimization (SEO) to reach a wider audience and better serve our community.

    Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and creative WordPress & SEO Intern to assist in the development and optimization of our branch websites. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in web development, SEO, and nonprofit communications while making a meaningful impact on our organization’s mission.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the creation and maintenance of Branch websites using WordPress.
    • Customize WordPress themes and plugins to meet the specific needs of each branch.
    • Implement SEO best practices to improve search engine rankings for branch websites.
    • Conduct keyword research and optimize website content accordingly.
    • Monitor website performance using Google Analytics and other SEO tools, providing regular reports on progress and areas for improvement.
    • Collaborate with the HQ team to ensure brand consistency across all branch websites.
    • Provide training and support to branch staff on website maintenance and basic SEO.
    • Assist with other digital marketing initiatives as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience with WordPress, including theme customization and plugin management.
    • Understanding of SEO principles and experience with SEO tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Ahrefs, SEMrush).
    • Basic knowledge of HTML is a plus.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • A passion for nonprofit work and a desire to contribute to our mission.
