    Description

    Cultural Exchange for Diplomats (CED), is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting friendship, citizen diplomacy, and mutual understanding among nations. To advance this mission, we organize educational, informational and cultural programs and services for Washington, DC's diplomatic community. We are seeking an intern to provide support to our office staff and volunteers. Member relations are critical as interns will be interacting with our network of volunteers on a regular basis. Additionally, successful interns may have the opportunity to attend programs or lectures of interest. For more information on our mission and current programs, please visit our website at www.culturalexchangefordiplomats.org. This is a part-time, 1-2 day per week internship. This is an unpaid position, but a $10 per day transportation/lunch stipend will be provided.

    Main intern responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

    • Data entry: Utilize Neon, a CRM (customer relationship management) database, to maintain diplomatic and volunteer contact information. Interns will also use this software to register participants for programs and services.
    • Administrative: Screen phone calls and emails and respond to basic inquiries from volunteers and diplomats. Assist Program Manager with correspondence for programs (e.g. confirmations and waiting list notices).
    • FInancial: Review payment information from Neon and transfer to Quickbooks
    • Event Support: Assist in organizing logistics for meetings and events.
    • Communications: Assist with editing the event calendar. Design and edit promotional materials.
    • Fundraising: Provide support for fundraising activities including researching and identifying potential donors and assisting with donation acknowledgment letters.
    • Other general administrative duties as assigned by the Executive Administrator and Program Manager

    Ideal Candidate

    • Self-motivated and has the ability to follow through on projects with limited supervision
    • Works well with a diverse range of people
    • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
    • Possesses excellent verbal and written communications skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Can handle multiple projects simultaneously
    • Basic Quickbooks experience
    • Event planning experience a plus
    • Fundraising experience a plus
