Exciting opportunity to intern with a grassroots women's empowerment project in rural Uganda 2020!

We are currently looking for passionate and motivated interns with experience in rural community development to lead this new and exciting project. To get an idea about the daily lives of our interns check out this video: https://youtu.be/rtW-HCpMZMA

The Teen Voices Journalism Project is a partner project with Teen Voices based in New York. Every month the girls on our project produce news articles on their lives in the village. Our partners in New York edit these articles which are then published online.

Your role:

As an intern on the Teen Voices Journalism Project you will design new and creative ways for the girls in school to tell stories about their lives using articles, blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

Interns will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in village life during the weekdays where they will make regular visits to the local school and to our community project to collect photos, videos and stories for content.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in village life and really feel like part of the community.

During the holiday period and weekends volunteers can choose to travel to nearby Jinja Town which is a tourist hot spot where you can enjoy many tourist attractions including white water rafting, kayaking, bungee jumping, quad biking and restaurants/cafe's/bars. We are happy to connect you with preferred tour companies on arrival.
