Would you like to live beach-front on the Caribbean Sea while working with volunteers from all over the world to benefit children in need? Honduras Child Alliance seeks a 12-month project manager to help coordinate the operations of our in-country educational enrichment and healthy living projects.
The project manager welcomes, orients, schedules, trains and supervises the international volunteers who staff our programs. The project manager organizes and facilitates weekly meetings of all staff. The project manager also has input into curriculum and opportunities to develop special projects. The project manager works in partnership with our on-site outreach manager and maintains regular communication and management development with the HCA directors. With the help of our Facilities Coordinator, our volunteer houses are also overseen by the project manager in regard to following up on the cleaning staff and needed repairs. The ideal candidate is able to spend a full year in Honduras, has at least an intermediate ability in Spanish and some level of teaching, social work, public health and/or supervisory experience. Most important is a passion to reach and inspire the children in our community. The project manager receives a private room & bath in the Beach House and a stipend of 750 HNL each week (about $33 USD). Upon successful completion, there is also a $400 USD bonus toward airfare and travel expenses. The project manager also receives a fabulous letter of recommendation and our ongoing gratitude!
The ideal candidate will have an Intermediate+ ability to speak Spanish • Previous experience living / volunteering in Central America or another developing area is a plus • Education / social work / public health / non-profit management background • Sense of humor combined with a sense of responsibility!
