Description

Are you an innovative, energetic, results-oriented, tech-savvy storyteller who is passionate about healthy lifestyles, food, gardening, cooking and farming? We are expanding our Houston-based team of dedicated professionals who work to reverse the epidemic of childhood obesity with both national and local programs that teach, inspire and empower healthy eating, intent on creating a world where healthy food is shared, appreciated and celebrated.

The Communications Intern will work with our Social Media Coordinater and other team members to present the public face of Recipe for Success Foundation across all Foundation platforms including social media (multiple Facebook pages, multiple Twitter accounts, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, You Tube and Vimeo), video content, electronic newsletters and event marketing, and web presence (recipe4success.org, VegOutwithrfs.org, HopeFarmsHTX.org, Google, Yelp!, etc.).

The Communications Intern at Recipe for Success Foundation must be a self-starting, results-driven professional. The position works directly with Founder & CEO, Gracie Cavnar, and key staff to ensure we are telling compelling stories and keeping the fans and supporters in our world well informed and excited about what we are up to.

Responsibilities:

  • Posts to Social Media
  • Helps to develop social-media campaigns in collaboration with Communications and Fundraising teams
  • Writes and edits blog posts
  • Updates content of recipe4success.org as needed
  • Helps draft ad, brochure, poster, flyer and invitation copy and graphics
  • Monitors social media analytics
  • Contributes to photographic library for use across all platforms 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Fluency and demonstrated success in web and online communications, including social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn and emerging platforms used by our target market
  • Demonstrated writing and editing skill
  • Photography and photo editing skills
  • Awareness and passion for healthy eating, cooking gardening, farming and food justice issues as well as entertaining and shared meals
  • Ability to meet demanding deadlines, manage multiple projects at once, interact with a broad variety of internal and external personalities, manage and traffic multiple priorities - all hopefully with a smile!
  • Strong aptitude with various software design and application tools such as Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator and with various Microsoft Office products, Apple computers and both Moveable Type and WordPress platforms
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends as needed
