Job Summary:

The Internship Program at the EastWest Institute provides talented students and recent graduates with a three-month (or longer) unpaid educational training opportunity designed to encourage professional and personal development. We encourage out-of-the-box thinking and value fresh perspectives.

As part of the on training process, interns will support their supervisor on research projects, administrative and logistical support, and other necessary tasks specific to their respective department. Additionally, interns will add to their skill sets by attending informal and formal learning sessions and an optional Research project.

Responsibilities:

The EastWest Institute seeks an energetic, detail-oriented and results-driven intern to provide logistical, administrative, and research support and will also support the planning of several high-level events, including the Institute’s Board of Directors meeting. This internship is best suited for those with a strong interest in (1) international relations, (2) gaining experience in meeting and events planning, and (3) experiencing firsthand the busy work life of the executive team within a nonprofit organization. The intern will acquire essential skills that are transferrable to any future position. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Conducting concise research on leaders and organizations within the field; possible speakers and moderators for events; and background information on event attendees as needed;

· Supporting staff in all facets of events and meetings preparation, and helping during events (occasional early morning/evening hours required);

· Corresponding with event attendees and speakers and assisting with VIP guests;

· Collaborating with other departments within the Institute to produce joint research and background reports on directed topics;

· Assisting in drafting and researching presentations for the CEO/EVP;

· Utilizing the database Salesforce to manage and maintain organizational database and contacts;

· Supporting outgoing executive correspondence;

· Administrative tasks such as note-taking during meetings and filling out expense reports;

· Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Student enrolled in a relevant graduate or undergraduate degree program or a recent graduate (if you are planning to continue your education within the next six months);

· Background and interest in international relations or security studies desirable;

· Excellent writing ability;

· Fluency in English a must. Proficiency in other languages is an advantage;

· The ability and drive to perform in a fast-paced international environment;

· PC literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google docs); Internet-research savvy;

· Team player, highly motivated, flexible, and able to efficiently handle multiple tasks.
