DC Shorts Film Festival and Screenplay Competition is an award-winning, internationally recognized film festival held every September in Washington, DC. Recognized by MovieMaker Magazine, USAToday, and Washington City Paper Reader’s Poll as one of the best film festivals in the world, we champion short films and the filmmakers who create them. We believe in the power of short films to democratize filmmaking, permitting diverse voices to be heard from around the globe. DC Shorts Film Festival proudly serves to present these voices to vast audiences every year (since 2004) in a welcoming, thought-provoking, and lively multi-day event filled with filmmakers, industry leaders and film-lovers alike. DC Shorts Film Festival and Screenplay Competition is a program of DC Film Alliance.

In order to produce numerous events throughout the year, we seek smart, problem-solving and ambitious individuals for internships throughout the year. Each internship is unique, however most involve one specific task, such as marketing, data mining, blog writing, research and film programming for the DC Shorts Film Festival. Internships are unpaid experiences; Some expenses, food, and travel maybe covered while working at DC Shorts.

We need Film Critique and Review/Programming Interns to work with the Programming Directors to assist in training and manage over 100 volunteer reviewers/jurors. Interns work with the Programming Director and PR firm to write critical and insightful film reviews for blog and print publications throughout the region. Programming Interns also assist with DCP deliverables, filmmaker contracts/filmmaker feedback, festival submissions and various duties.

  • Skills include: Strong writing skills; Organizational and editing skills; Highly-creative outlook
  • Availability: Spring and Summer
  • Uploads Needed: Resume and 3 Writing samples required. Cover letter optional.

We need Motion Graphics and Animation interns to work with the Programming Directors and Festival Manager to create short videos and commercials for online and broadcast using new footage and archival material.
