Interested in international human rights? Just Atonement Inc. ("JAI") seeks interested law school students to work on exciting topics in international law and human rights for the winter (Jan-Mar) of 2019.
Just Atonement Inc. ("JAI") is the first and only human rights legal nonprofit that is addressing the two greatest challenges of the 21st century: global warfare and climate change. The mission of JAI is to build a peaceful and environmentally sustainable world, governed under the rule of law.
Interns will also have the possibility of going to Geneva in March to experience some time at the United Nations Human Rights Council (scheduling to be worked out during interview period).
The internship will be based primarily out of New York, New York.
Just Atonement Inc. ("JAI") seeks interns to work on the following projects in the spring:
(i) The legality of the Iraq War. JAI has been on the forefront of tackling the legality of the Iraq War for several years. The intern can expect to work on legal issues regarding the legality of the Iraq War and prospective avenues for addressing the legality before domestic and international courts.
(ii) Climate change and human rights. JAI is looking for ways to litigate climate change causes of action in domestic and international courts.
(iii) Corporate responsibility and human rights. JAI is researching ways to restrict the ability of corporations to violate human rights, and to create incentives for corporations to become instruments of positive social change.
JAI aims to be a new type of human rights organization that tackles critical issues ignored by other human rights groups. Our executive director, Inder Comar, is a recognized young leader in human rights. He has spoken at the United Nations in Geneva and his work has been profiled in The Guardian.
We are happy to work with your school to secure academic credit.
