Marketing & Communications Intern, Fall 2018

Job Description

The Marketing & Communications Intern will work in cooperation with the Director of

Development to generate increased awareness of Heketi, most particularly in the Mott

Haven and Melrose neighborhoods, and across Heketi’s network of advocates and donors.


● Create eNewsletter promoting Heketi student highlights and Heketi school events

● Create & manage Communications Calendar, tracking the variety of communication

pieces to be shared by Heketi from September - December 2018

● Prepare content for Heketi’s app, website, and social media platforms: Facebook,

LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter

● Design Heketi collateral materials that can be shared with prospective families,

advocates, and donors

● Prepare media advisories and press releases to share with media outlets in

promoting Heketi school events

● Prepare thank-you acknowledgements to send to Heketi donors


● Currently enrolled in a college or university and pursuing a degree in Marketing,

Communications, or a related field

● Has a deep passion for educational equity and social justice

● Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Required Time

● September-December 2018

● 10-12 hours/week


● While the Marketing & Communications Intern position is an unpaid opportunity,

successful completion of this internship may qualify the intern to receive up to three

(3) coursework credits
