Wilmat Development Foundation (WDF), an organization focused on empowering underprivileged communities in Uganda, is looking for passionate individuals to join our internship program.

The impacts of COVID-19 are endless, but have without a doubt left many of these communities without food or economic security. Additionally, rates of gender-based violence and access to important health resources such as menstrual hygiene products.

At WDF, we are specifically interested in motivated individuals who want to help make direct impact to our communities in Uganda by helping with fundraising opportunities, spreading awareness, and advocating to change the public narrative.

We prefer applicants to have some knowledge/skills in any of the following:

  • Blog or social media engaging Posts writing
  • Creating and managing multiple fundraisers
  • Managing social media accounts.
  • Business Development and Entrepreneurship
  • Content Writing for Curriculum development.
  • Grant writing
  • Community management
  • Collaborating in groups
  • Teaching, tutoring, or mentoring
  • Advocacy work in the form of public speaking, presentations, or writing

We are accepting interns from high school, university, or at the professional level. The internship will run for a period of 12 Weeks (or more) and the responsibilities will vary depending on your skill set and commitment. Here are some ways interns have helped at WDF:

  • Developing Business models for Small Scale Women-led and Youth-led Businesses
  • Curriculum development for ongoing projects at hand.
  • Donor mapping and Management
  • Project development and Management
  • Community Engagement procedures
  • Creating social media content and blog posts about gender-based violence, root causes of poor menstrual hygiene, sustaining livelihoods during COVID-19, etc.
  • Hosting presentations for the public about gender-based violence, menstrual hygiene, agriculture, and the impacts of COVID-19.
  • Creating and up-keeping fundraisers that will fund menstrual hygiene kits, women enterprises, Agricultural Projects, education resources such as classes in rural communities among others.
  • Keeping up with current technology to find solutions to root causes of problems in underprivileged communities (for example, finding a reusable, biodegradable pad for women to make and use while menstruating).
  • Writing grants to provide more classes and resources to rural communities.

With your help, we hope to increase access to education and skill development starting with our youths, empower young women to engage in self and public advocacy, and promote entrepreneurial engagements to enhance food security.
