American International Health Alliance (AIHA) is seeking a Program Development Intern to work with us during the winter and spring of 2018, with the possibility of extending the term through the summer for the right person. This will be a part-time paid position with an expected time commitment of 15-20 hours a week.


This position is within AIHA’s Program Development, with a focus on Business Development. As a member of the Program Development team at AIHA’s headquarters in Washington, DC, you will help support AIHA’s new business pursuits and overall efforts to grow the organization. The position includes a heavy focus on research of potential new funders and new opportunities, along with support for helping coordinate new business proposals, with a goal of producing compliant, responsive, and compelling proposals.




·        Provide research to support the analysis of donor trends, funding opportunities, and specific procurements; targeted research to support outreach for funding from a range of sources

·        Research and track new business opportunities across various donor and procurement Web sites, including monitoring procurement sites of US Government agencies as well as sites of other potential funders

·        Conduct research on early stage opportunities to understand competitive landscape, funding environment, and funder priorities

·        Provide support in tracking new business opportunities by updating and maintaining a business development tracking chart

·        Support work in developing profiles of potential funders, including funder priorities and requirements

·        Assist with the development and maintenance of proposal libraries

·        Support and maintain a consultant database for business development

·        Provide support in proposal development, including logistical coordination of meetings, targeted research, document organization and production, and graphics support

·        Support proposal teams through quality and compliance checks via compliance matrix, and proposal formatting, production, and submission

·        Other duties as assigned




·        Bachelor’s degree, or current pursuit of degree, in international relations, public policy, or related field

·        Strong skills in desk research, including ability to organize and present research findings, along with strong skills in Microsoft Office

·        Highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks

·        Self-motivated and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

·        Fluency in English and excellent writing and communications skills

·        Good interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills

·        Strong attention to detail

·        Regular attendance required
