The Parkinson's Foundation makes life better for people with Parkinson’s disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. In everything we do, we build on the energy, experience, and passion of our global Parkinson's community.

The Parkinson’s Foundation is looking for an exceptional undergraduate or graduate student to work directly with the Research Programs team on an array of science communications projects. Work with passionate professionals, learn first-hand how to apply best practices in grants administration and research communications to make an impact on a debilitating disease. Please commit to 20-25 hours a week. Start and end dates are flexible, but we ask that you commit to a 4-month internship timeframe. This is a paid position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Create and edit scientific summaries of research programs supported by the Parkinson’s Foundation. Ensure summaries are accessible to lay audiences and the broader Parkinson’s community.
  • Work with the Research team to update grant and fellowship program descriptions for clarity and consistency. Provide editorial support to update new and existing funding mechanisms.
  • Draft and edit promotional materials and other program collateral including emails and other mass electronic communication.
  • Liaise with the Communications team to post updated materials and articles to the Foundation website and blog.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Research team in fulfilling their responsibilities and functions.
  • Complete an array of administrative duties as needed.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED: 

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in neuroscience, biomedicine, or related field
  • Strong interest in Parkinson’s disease or other neurodegenerative conditions
  • Prior experience working in administrative or project management support a plus
  • Excellent written communication skills, detail-oriented with strong editing and data management skills
  • Strong time management skills, ability to prioritize work at hand
  • Flexibility in approach and willingness to adapt when necessary, strong interpersonal skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency in Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
