Grantmaking/Philanthropy Intern

Are you passionate about social change and hoping to gain experience in the field of philanthropy?

Responsibilities:

  • Learn the grant life cycle and all associated processes/functions;
  • Assist the team in optimizing the grantee experience through continual improvement of the grant application experience;
  • Assist in prescreening grant applications that the foundation receives;
  • Resolve questions and issues that arise throughout the grantee life cycle;
  • Assist the preparation of dockets and background information to assist advisors in making funding decisions;
  • Help the team identify opportunities to communicate more effectively with grantees and advisors.

Qualifications:

  • High degree of attention to detail;
  • Sincere desire to serve grassroots volunteer leaders who are bringing change to their communities;
  • Process improvement mindset; unafraid to name/suggest workflow enhancements as they arise;
  • Team player, fast learner, comfortable with new technology;
  • Ability to work in a self-directed way; flexible and a good time manager;
  • Prefer someone with a commitment to or interest in animal rights and a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle

Outcomes:

  • Understand the grantmaking process and gain experience in social change philanthropy
  • Communicate and connect with a wide range of inspiring activists and volunteers from all over the world
  • Gain an understanding of and appreciation for the power of grassroots networks
