The Modern Language Association (MLA) seeks a convention programs intern for summer 2018 to assist with meeting strategy, research, analysis, and content generation related to the MLA Annual Convention and other MLA event programming.
Reporting principally to the MLA’s head of convention programs, the convention programs intern will assist staff members in the office of outreach with analyzing data about convention attendance, researching potential convention locations and exhibitors, writing copy for MLA sites, and list maintenance. The convention programs intern will also perform related work as needed, as well as participate in conversations about event-planning and promotional strategy.
Candidates should possess strong organizational, research, and writing skills and be comfortable working with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel. Particular attention will be paid to candidates with a demonstrated interest in the humanities and nonprofit meeting planning.
The convention programs intern will receive a $830 stipend every other week and unlimited-ride MetroCards for the ten-week internship.
