The back ground of the community.

Save the marginalized Uganda is located in the eastern region of Busonga , Kamuli district Uganda , it has 76 percent Basoga, 3.8 Iteso and rest are Banyora and Bagung according to national Berea of statistics of 2000.

Kamuli district population is. 518229 male, 236389 and female 249930. According to National boreal of statistics, 2014.

Save the marginalized cover areas of bugabula south, kamuli municipal, and Buzaya County which is believe to be communities with high poverty levels in Uganda according the report of hunger project 2016. Its characterized with a young population of 26000 youth and children.

 Kamuli district has both mixed and single schools public and privet schools, this project tend to reach girls in these schools in the location of kamuli municipal ,bugabula south and buzaya which are mostly living in high poverty level. Kamuli district is one of the most districts with high poverty levels according to poverty status report ,2014..

All the participants who will watch the video and take part in the study are found in kamuli municipal and bugabula south located at heart of kamuli and eastern side of kamuli district in primary and secondry schools, te girls will be between age of 10 and 18 to understand and menstruation , puberty and hygiene .

Kamuli district is among the most deprived cities with high poverty level and high birth rates according to poverty eradication report 2014.

Kamuli has a high population of young children and youth with high school dropout mostly by the girls due to ignorance of menstruation and puberty. Kamuli has a high ignorance levels of 76 % , according to report of ministry of education 2016. The households are living on one meal a day and most of them cannot afford sanitary towel for their children which has skyrocketed school dropout. Due to current change most of them live settled life with same permanent houses while the youth occupied mostly grass searched houses.

The community has interest in education but due to luck of scholastic material and mostly the girls drop out of school during puberty stage due to luck of sanitary pads and poor hygiene which affects their social life in school hence leading to drop out report from ministry education 2014.

The community is located in remote setup with high challenges to water supply, kamuli lucks good water and borehole which would help the young girls to access quick water, electricity is challenge to most of these areas and neighborhood.


The schools in kamuli are attended by both female and male ,children of age six years are always in grade one and age 14 are in grade seven. The schools are managed by board of governor, head teachers, teachers and non teaching staff,

Teachers teach face to face and each class room has 40 – 60 pupils interacting with teachers.

The orphanage has children from 5 years to 19 both girls and boys.

The reason to why the orphanage was chosen children attend schools and at night we can be able to show the video and educate them about the menstruation and puberty,

In kamuli same parents have different views about menstruation and being involved in this project the community and children will charge they attitude towards menstruation as misfortune


 These schools have been chosen due to different reasons from administration population of students and knowledge gape about menstruation as well as luck of knowledge about reproductive and puberty.


THE organizatinon offeres culture exchange to internees and volunteers, we offer more skills in project design ,proposal writing as well academic empowerment.
