Okoa Refuge is a well-established Christian based orphanage in Masaka, Uganda. It has several community ministries, and one of their most recent is the House of Joy medical clinic, opened July 2017. Its mission statement is "a long term commitment to provide affordable quality health care in the name and love of Jesus Christ". It is run by a staff of nine Ugandans and provides dental and primary care services including consults, labs and pharmacy. A volunteer American team has fund-raised its launch, provided continued financial support, and helped to administer its set up and ongoing operations. Okoa feels that a full time intern/missionary with administrative experience would be of tremendous value for the clinic to grow and thrive. Areas of focus include accurate accounting, marketing, future vision/plans, and staff HR including spiritual strengthening and leadership. A detailed outline of responsibilities and requirements is available upon request.
Okoa Refuge plans to provide round trip transportation of the individual, once per year of work. They will provide a stipend to cover a significant portion of furnished housing in a safe area. They will provide a vehicle and cell phone for use in Uganda. The intern/missionary is expected to fund raise costs outside of this, which can be clearly determined in a budget, months before arrival. Housing for the individual's whole family can be located, but will likely require some additional funds to raise.
