Development intern at arts education nonprofit

The Development intern will be a key part of helping ASTEP raise funds through grants and donors. They will work with the Development and Communications team and play an active role in identifying grants and researching. The expected contribution of approximately 10 hours per week.

ABOUT ASTEP

This year, ASTEP celebrates its 15th year anniversary and impacting the lives of over 20,000 young people around the globe through the arts. Founded in 2006, ASTEP cultivates community, creative capacity, and courage in young people through the arts experiences across multiple genres. We deeply believe in the potential of the youth we work with, and are genuinely excited about the opportunities we create with them. The ASTEP team amplifies joy, collaboration, and communication and supporting the success of each of our individual staff members.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying appropriate funding opportunities  
  • Researching successful fundraising campaigns
  • Organizing and presenting research to the team
  • Contributing toward fundraising strategies 
  • Attending Development meetings and taking notes
  • Inputting new business contacts in Salesforce 

The ideal candidate has:

  • Interest in nonprofit work, community building, and fundraising.
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Strong research and presentation skills 
  • A person with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, but willing to speak up and share ideas and expertise in meetings
  • Strategic thinker
  • Experience working with SalesForce
  • Experience in and comfortable working with Google Suite
  • Proficient in Excel 
  • Knowledgeable of GrantWatch and other grant databases

COVID-19 NOTE

We are committed to the health of our employees, and are working remotely until it is deemed safe to return to a busy office environment in midtown Manhattan. ASTEP provides support for remote working situations as needed. If interested in in-person experiences, all interns must be fully-vaccinated and submit regular negative PCR tests prior to visiting the office.
