Cicatelli Associates Inc. (CAI), is seeking a highly motivated individual for a part-time, paid internship as a Research and Evaluation Intern, responsible for supporting the Research and Evaluation team in the Buffalo office on the Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) Project. The REACH project aims to improve health, prevent chronic diseases and reduce health disparities among African American residents living along the East Ferry corridor. The ideal candidate will be able to manage several project tasks at once, with competing deadlines. Using a Collective Impact Model and Community-Based Participatory Research methods along with Implementation Science and Health Equity frameworks, the Research and Evaluation Intern may complete some of the following tasks: collect and analyze data from community-based participatory research activities, develop data collection tools in collaboration with community partners, create monthly reports to track project implementation, create data visualization to disseminate information about the project to a variety of audiences (community members, CAI staff, community partners, funder etc.,). This position is based out of CAI’s Buffalo office and will require the candidate to travel to local meetings and community partner settings.
This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills acquired in school related to his/her research and evaluation studies and apply them in a non-profit setting.
MAJOR LEARNING ACTIVITIES TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Managing and analyzing quantitative and qualitative program data
•Drafting evaluation instruments including surveys and needs assessments
•Assisting with the writing of reports and summaries
•Formatting and summarizing data in the form of tables and charts
•Conducting scientific literature reviews
•Performing other duties as assigned
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & CREDENTIALS:
•B.A. or B.S. in Public Health, Epidemiology, Sociology, Social Work, or related disciplines
•Excellent written and verbal skills
•Strong research and evaluation skills
•Experience with data visualization software Tableau and PowerBI
•Experience with SurveyGizmo programming and data analysis
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
•Keen attention to detail
This internship entails approximately 10-20 hours per week, starting immediately through Spring of 2020 (or longer if requested and available), depending on class schedule. Exact start and end dates will be determined. CAI will work with the requirements of any academic institution to provide college credit.
