Are you a highly driven, self-motivated, meticulous individual with a knack for persuasion and inclination for relationship building? Do you have academic or professional experience in sustainability, environmental sciences, corporate affairs, account management and/ or marketing? Can you can effectively frame and communicate complex ideas and perform well under pressure? If you are eager to translate your passion into actionable results, then this is the perfect opportunity for you.


We are seeking 2-4 individuals for this fast-paced fellowship program. These fellows will be integral in forming and executing an outreach strategy for facilitating CDP disclosure from North American corporations with the largest environmental impact. Fellows will be responsible for building relationships with corporate sustainability and investor relations professionals at a range of seniority levels and should be comfortable discussing a variety of sustainability topics including natural resource disclosure, corporate sustainability, socially-responsible investing and carbon accounting.

 

Key responsibilities:  

·       Secure participation in CDP programs (Climate Change, Water Security and/or Forests) through phone calls and email support  

·       Conduct research to build the business case for disclosure for targeted companies  

·       Support all engagement-related initiatives and offer support to sector leads and CDP team leaders  

·       Document all activity, including tracking engagement outreach  

 

Preferred skills:  

·       A university degree in a related subject, or pursuing such a degree  

·       Superior interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage with resistant parties, and the ability to pitch products and services  

·       Familiarity with business implications to private sector companies represented by climate change, water use and/or deforestation (such as issues associated with timber, palm oil, soy and/or cattle products)  

·       The ability to come up to speed on technical information quickly and independently and be able to communicate complex information in a digestible way with an understanding of the broader implications 

·       Strong writing skills: must be able to accurately impart information in a concise yet comprehensive manner  

·       Familiarity with Microsoft Office  

·       The drive to take ownership and responsibility for specific areas of work  

·       The ability to spot trends and opportunities as well as focus on details  

·       The desire and ability to improve and streamline processes to better and more efficiently achieve program goals, rather than follow the status quo  

·       The ability to meet deadlines under pressure

Benefits

Compensation and Expectations: 

·       The fellowship is paid $15.00 an hour

·       Duration is February 2021 through late-September 2021, with potential for staying on through the end of the year 

·       Hourly commitment is 15-20 hours per week. Hours will vary depending on demand, and can be flexible to accommodate the fellow’s schedule 

·       Fellows will be welcome to apply for any full-time positions that may arise during the fellowship.
