Position Overview:

GreenLight Charlotte’s Spring intern will be involved in a variety of projects that support and enhance the organization’s nonprofit investments, communications, and development strategies, at the Charlotte site. In addition, the Spring Intern will assist in our diligence process for our third annual selection process, communications, community engagement and other site/national projects to support GreenLight Charlotte portfolio organizations and the GreenLight National Network.


Key Projects & Responsibilities:

Community Engagement

●     Support our communication engagement conversations through meeting attendance and note

taking;


Research and Diligence

●     Research and build analyses of key community stakeholders for partnership in existing local communities;

●       Assist with our Advisory working group through scheduling and note-taking.

●      Assist with management team calls through scheduling and note-taking.

●      Collect important documentation from organizations through our diligence process.

●      Prepare all Advisory meeting materials.

●      Support donor and organization database management.


Communications

●       Manage GreenLight Charlotte’s blogs and Twitter. Produce engaging content to increase Twitter following;

●       Update the GreenLight Charlotte sites’ webpage as needed.

●       Assist with newsletter communications to donors and supporters.

Please note the following:

We are a small team and flexibility is important as other responsibilities may arise within these areas.


Due to Covid-19, this position is 100% remote. You will need to supply your own portable laptop to serve as your workstation, and might be asked to use a personal/mobile phone to cover some of your responsibilities.


Candidate Requirements:

●       An interest in nonprofit work and developing skills for a career in nonprofit management, business and nonprofit development, community development, communication and/or marketing, or any other related fields.

●       A deep understanding of, or interest in, urban issues facing low-wealth communities;

●       Outstanding research, communication, and technology skills;

●       Willingness to quickly learn and analyze new information;

●       Ability to take initiative and think creatively;

●       Flexibility, humor, and a passion for GreenLight’s mission and the City of Charlotte.


Preferred Requirements:

●       Pursuing a degree in a relevant field such as urban studies, sociology, nonprofit management,

education, business, community development, economics, political science, or other related fields.


Compensation: $2000 stipend split into four payments for four months.  Part-time (a minimum of 20 hours per week). Exact time/hours to be discussed after the start date.
