Partners of the Americas is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that for more than 50 years has been bringing together people, organizations, and expertise to develop lasting solutions to our hemisphere’s toughest challenges. Partners’ International Office is located in Washington, DC and is currently looking for enthusiastic students with strong organizational skills to participate in our 2020 part-time Internship. This program will expose the intern to multiple assignments and while supporting the President’s office with the strategic research and internal projects, including (but not limited to) a hardware organization and the website redesign.

This is a Paid (stipend) Internship position which calls for an energetic and innovative thinker with excellent interpersonal, research, writing, proofreading, and editing skills. 

Requirements

This position is ideally suited for a student currently enrolled in undergraduate studies with an interest in IT, technology, and/or nonprofit work. Must be available to work in our DC office 2-3 days/week. The dates of the internship are flexible with availability to start in February. The expected engagement for the Internship program is from 6-12 months, with the minimum of 15-20 hours/week. Also, the candidate must present the following skillset:

Qualifications/Skills

  • Fluency in English required (native language a plus);
  • Fluency in Spanish preferable;
  • Computer literacy; or IT experience desired
  • Web design/implementation experience a plus
  • Familiarity with Windows OS, Dell computers, and basic hardware
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 desired
  • Outstanding communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, including a willingness to go above and beyond to help the team achieve goals, solicit others’ perspectives, share knowledge, and participate in activities that support diversity and inclusion.
  • A demonstrated eagerness to learn and take on new challenges, including openness to direction and feedback and a willingness to ask questions.

Scope of Work

  • Work closely with IT Specialist or President’s office to assist with website redesign
  • Design and conduct a hardware organization project
  • Assist with IT support and technology research
  • Assist with maintenance of office equipment with IT support staff
  • Write reports on tasks completed
  • Other tasks depending on need, availability and interest.
