MONITORING AND EVALUATION INTERN

March - July 2021, 10-20 hours per week, New York (remote/hybrid)

Stipend: $1000 (paid in two payments)

Our Organization: iEARN-USA, a founding member of the iEARN International community, is a leader in international student exchange programming.  Our Vision and Mission are to create a more interconnected, peaceful, and just world by empowering young people to make a positive difference in the world through global collaboration and transformative learning. iEARN-USA coordinates virtual exchange and study abroad programs for youth, professional development, and global networking for educators, and assists in the development of program content worldwide.

Position Overview: The Monitoring and Evaluation Intern will work closely with the Education Team to gather and present quantitative and qualitative data from program participants, to inform iEARN-USA program design and bolster evaluation and communications efforts, as well as specific program M&E needs to ensure the quality and effectiveness of program implementation. The intern will provide assistance to the program staff in monitoring plans and implementation; creating M&E systems, processes, and tools; and contributing to measuring, analyzing, and reporting results. The opportunity will help build the candidate’s program performance measurement skills through exposure to a variety of program and business development activities. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Memberships Manager to understand and assess U.S. participants’ current impact results and data collection/synthesis methods, as well as evaluation-related needs going forward.
• Set up systems for program M&E.
• Conduct analyses to inform program design and improve programs outcomes.
• Compile and present the findings from student and educator surveys.
• Coordinate reports for iEARN members.  
• Assist with the review and development of forms, questionnaires, and surveys for data collection and analysis to monitor and track teacher and student activity and outcomes. 
• Schedule and conduct interviews and/or focus groups of alumni to gather new information on the long-term impact of programming on U.S. participants.
• Transcribe and organize collected interview data and present the findings. 
• Research and writing or editing.
• Data management and organization, and quality control.
• Support the team through various administrative duties.

Qualifications:

• Graduate student preferred in the field of business or public administration, nonprofit management or other related field. Equivalent education and work experience required with an understanding of statistics.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to assess information gathered from a variety

of sources to formulate recommendations on issues of broad strategic impact within and external to the organization.

• Advanced quantitative skills, including knowledge of data analysis. 
• Excellent written and oral presentation skills.  
• Skilled in Word, Excel, and Survey Monkey or similar evaluation program. 
• Demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently and as a member of a team to coordinate and/or lead the efforts to effectively meet M&E needs.
• Demonstrate ability to multitask, prioritize deadlines, take initiative and maintain confidentiality.  
• Satisfactory results from criminal background search.  
• Must be able to work independently and successfully from a personal office.
• Commit at least 10-20 hours a week. 
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
