Note:
Help others and expand your world view through a year of social justice and social service in Washington, DC.
Founded in 1985 and sponsored by Westmoreland UCC, the Westmoreland Service Corps is about service, community, simple living and personal growth.
Service. The program matches five fellows whose interests, training and career goals align with the needs of agencies doing work in social service, health care, housing, education, advocacy and more.
Community. The fellows cultivate an intentional community together and live in a shared home (a former parsonage) just a few steps from Washington, D.C. in Bethesda, Maryland. Fellows are also welcome but not required to participate in the Westmoreland UCC church community just a few doors down.
Simple living. Fellows receive a modest stipend from the agencies at which they work and pay minimal rent. In additional, travel, commuting costs, and some expenses are included or subsidized.
Growth. A community counselor meets and works with the group weekly and the program includes three weekend retreats with Board members to provide opportunities for personal and spiritual growth and future career and calling discernment.
All persons, regardless of faith, are welcome to apply.
