Development and Communications Intern

The Hope for Depression Research Foundation, is a 501(c)(3) public non-profit organization founded in 2006 to fund advanced scientific research into the origins, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of depression and its related mood and other emotional disorders –bipolar disorder, dysthymia, postpartum depression, post-traumatic stress syndrome, anxiety disorder and suicide. With its pioneering Depression Task Force of top brain scientists, HDRF is a recognized leader in depression research. HDRF now has an exciting opportunity for an intern with keen organizational skills to help update our Raiser’s Edge database and organize the foundation’s physical filing systems. The intern will report to the Director of Development and the Executive Director of the Foundation. 

Essential Skills and Competencies:

• High level attention to detail, organization, and ability to work independently
• Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge software preferred, but not necessary  

Responsibilities include:

• Assist with Race of Hope event preparation and outreach for the Week of Hope
• Assist with sponsorship outreach for the HOPE Luncheon
• Help maintain the HDRF website and social media platforms
• Assist with various mailings
• Organize materials from various events into chronological files

Requirements

• College degree or currently enrolled in a college/university degree program
• Must be very sharp, intelligent, discreet, detail-oriented, organized, quick to determine priorities, and able to work both independently and as a team
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in MS Office applications Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
• Proficient in fund-raising database Raiser’s Edge, preferred
• Familiar with social media platforms
• Passion for the HDRF mission to fund neuroscience research in the field of depression a plus
