ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND


Since 1984, the Violence Intervention Program (VIP) has been a leader in building transformative programs that raise the standard of care for all victims of child abuse in Los Angeles County. As the largest child abuse clinic in the country, we care for over 19,000 victims of abuse, neglect, and sexual assault each year. With over 30 years of proven successes, our hallmark approach to care, including comprehensive medical, forensic, mental health, advocacy, and supportive services, continues to be the “gold standard” for the care and treatment of victims of violence.


POSITION SUMMARY:


VIP is currently seeking a part-time Development & Communications Intern to work under the supervision of our Director of Development & Communications. This is an excellent opportunity to learn what it takes to operate, promote, and fundraise for a large nonprofit organization that is growing and expanding. Working under the Director of Development & Communications, responsibilities will vary and may include:


  • Research and draft communication pieces for online and print distribution;
  • Assist in crafting a social media strategy, developing social media content, and building an online audience;
  • Assist with the implementation social media and community outreach campaigns;
  • Collaborate with staff on brainstorming, creating, and distributing communications materials;
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of donor communications;
  • Assist with the donor stewardship and cultivation activities;
  • Provide some administrative support for the development team;
  • Other duties as assigned.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Demonstrate a professional demeanor and positive attitude;

·        Possess excellent written and oral communication skills;

·        A highly motivated self-starter that is able to work both independently and within a team;

•    Knowledge of Microsoft Office, social media, and internet applications;

•   Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and small details;

•   Prior nonprofit, communications, or social media experience a plus, but not required.


COMPENSATION:

This is a paid internship at $10.50 per hour.

Monday – Friday; approximately 15-20 hours per week (schedule can be flexible).
