Description

Church of the Redeemer, Bryn Mawr, is seeking an intern who can assist in the

expansion of its communications and marketing, specifically in utilizing new

platforms and media.

About Church of the Redeemer

The Redeemer is a vibrant parish with historic roots that provides substantial

programs for youth and adults, and recently completed a $12M renovation of its

facilities and campus to increase its role as an anchor institution in Bryn

Mawr and the Philadelphia Main Line community. In addition to its worship and

parish programs, the church also serves as a host to numerous community

organizations meeting social needs and partners with a range of music and

performing arts organizations to make a welcome home for art and cultural

programs.

Communication & Marketing Intern

We seek an intern who will work closely with the parish staff to create strategic plan

and set of practices by which we can 1) communicate our mission and what we

offer to a diverse demographic and audiences of families and individuals, 2) increase

our reach to new audiences outside our core networks and members, and 3)

collect data that we can use to refine our message and better target the new

and wider audiences we hope to reach. This work would build on a study recently

completed by students from Villanova University that assessed the parish’s

messaging and communications, including its online presence and social media.

That report will help, in part, to inform the goals and strategy of a renewed

effort to increase connections and awareness about The Redeemer.

Supervision and Compensation

The intern will be supervised and directed by the Rector and the Director of

Communications and Stewardship. Compensation will be offered as a stipend with

a minimum commitment of weekly hours to be negotiated. Work will include both

on-site conversations and meetings with staff and others as necessary, along

with remote or work-from-home. The agreed stipend will be competitive and

commensurate with experience, skills, and the agreed minimum hours and length

of the internship.

Requirements

Applicants should demonstrate excellent skills in written communication, and knowledge of

communications, marketing, and media, awareness of key assets and media in the

Greater Philadelphia market. Interns should be well-organized, accomplished in

working independently with self-direction, and responsive to supervisors and

parish staff. A bachelor’s degree or students in third or fourth-year studies

in Communications, Media, or related fields are required.
