Our Mission

Human Rights Connected (HRC) empowers civil society in protecting and preserving human rights through legal institutions or community organizing. Our international team helps human rights defenders access the legal framework through knowledge and resource-sharing. Through technical support, trainings, the curation of practical resources, and other creative projects, we promote understanding of the legal framework and strategic nonviolent action.

Position Summary

You’ll coordinate efforts to provide support to human rights defenders utilizing nonviolent action. This will involve curating practical resources for our digital library as well as targeted research to address ongoing human rights struggles. You’ll play a critical role improving our website content and helping implement our content-building strategy.

In this role, you’ll strengthen your research and analytical skills, deepen your understanding of civil resistance in human rights, and contribute to the defense of human rights. Your role will help human rights defenders advance their movements under international law and amplify their impact within the human rights sector.

As with all of our team, internship is remote and unpaid. We rely on the drive and passion of our members to fulfill our mission. Candidates must work independently, take initiative and pursue creative approaches to problem solving.

Responsibilities

  2. Upload between 5-10 resources on a weekly basis.
  3. Identify 3 resources and draft narratives to be featured weekly on HRC’s website and social media.
  4. Coordinate logistical support and tracking around quality control and troubleshooting for our resource library.
  5. Provide ad hoc research support for requests for assistance from rights defenders in the field.
  6. Conduct independent research on recent international developments impacting rights defenders.
  7. Identify resources that could assist with current human rights struggles.
  8. Present on content-related initiatives and updates to the HRC team during meetings.
  9. Attend Research Team meetings regularly as well as HRC’s team-wide meetings.
  10. Assist with research projects and other HRC initiatives, as needed.
