Promote equity in nonprofit jobs via philanthropy outreach

Class Action (www.classism.org) is a national nonprofit dedicated to eliminating classism and extreme economic inequality. The Staffing the Mission project spotlights burnout nonprofit jobs and promotes funders' and managers' efforts to increase staff pay and satisfaction. INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

This intern will assist the Staffing the Mission Coordinator and other Class Action staff in making change in the nonprofit and philanthropy sectors, by:

  • Researching equity-minded foundations, conferences and media outlets
  • Maintaining database of potential collaborators
  • Promoting a survey to foundations
  • Creating and posting memes (including videos if skills allow)
  • Increasing social media traffic for Staffing the Mission blogs, vlogs, publications, etc., via posts on Twitter and FB
  • Analyzing survey responses
  • Updating web pages
  • and other tasks as needed

Internship contracts are on a semester-by-semester basis, for a minimum of 10 and maximum of 15 weeks, 7 to 10 hours a week totaling at least 150 total hours @ $15/hour (or $18/hour for a graduate student in a program on philanthropy or nonprofit management). Currently we are looking for a fall 2021 intern, but will also review applications for spring 2022.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS

  • Demonstrated commitment to economic justice, intersectional anti-racism, and progressive change. Class Action's interns' values must be aligned with our mission.
  • Detail oriented, with experience in entering and keeping track of detailed information
  • Online research competence
  • Experience promoting social media posts on many platforms

Helpful: Personal experience working low-paid nonprofit jobs; WordPress or other html web editing; video editing.
