About ARCHIVE Global: Architecture for Health In Vulnerable Environments

ARCHIVE Global is an international non-profit organization that utilizes architectural design to reduce the global burden of disease. Working within socioeconomically vulnerable communities around the world, we apply innovative, low-cost housing design solutions to improve living conditions and health outcomes for the poorest of the poor. With projects in in almost 10 countries, ARCHIVE has directly benefited thousands around the world with improved living conditions and healthier lives. We’ve also reached over ten thousand people with training, education, and awareness campaigns promoting the vital connection between housing and health.

ARCHIVE Global believes that health should not be negatively impacted by the state of housing. Operating in the spaces of development, health, and architecture, we prioritize housing design as a key strategy in combating disease around the world. By using one basic right – housing – we deliver one basic need – health.

Our Approach

Research — We investigate how the built environment contributes to public health challenges globally.

Advocacy — We inform communities about best practices to improve health and reduce the risk of disease and strive to bring change at an international level by informing in public policy.

Design — We design, test, and build practical housing solutions that actively combat poor health.

Role

ARCHIVE seeks an External Relations Officer Intern to assist with outreach efforts including events, communications, and partnership efforts. This position will work closely with the organization’s leadership team and others, but will also be asked to lead projects independently.

Responsibilities

As ARCHIVE’s External Relations Officer Intern you will have to following duties:

  • Assist in developing organizational communications strategies for ambitious projects around the world;
  • Draft reports, articles, blogs, and other materials;
  • Create and promote new content for social media and other communications platforms, and increase number of followers on all social media platforms;
  • Engage with constituents and other stakeholders;
  • Organize, coordinate, and participate in advocacy and/or representational visits, events and meetings as needed;
  • Initiate communications strategies and securing speaking engagements;
  • This is not a complete list and depending on skill and interest you may be asked to assist with other tasks;

Qualifications

  • BA degree in writing, business, political science, communications, or other relevant degree;
  • Immaculate communication skills and ability to work within a team;
  • Strict eye for detail and aesthetics;
  • Ability to multitask productively;
  • Interest in built environment, public health, and/or international development;
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite a plus;
  • Experience in international development or low income settings;
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA.

Desirable

  • Bilingual fluency in English and another language.
