Background

Ashoka is the global association of the world’s leading social entrepreneurs—men and women with system changing solutions for the world’s most urgent social problems. Social entrepreneurs are individuals with innovative solutions to society’s most pressing social problems. From its regional office in Cairo, Ashoka Arab World creates a competitive, entrepreneurial, and globally integrated citizen sector and develops the profession of social entrepreneurship. Ashoka currently works with over 100 Ashoka Fellows located in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Bahrain, Tunisia, Libya, the UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Ashoka Arab World successfully hosted three iterations of the Arab World Social Innovation Forum in 2009, 2010, and 2019, bringing together the most important players in the regional ecosystem of social entrepreneurship. After 15 years of impact in the region, Ashoka Arab World is again convening the Arab World Social Innovation Forum in 2021 to connect and engage the region’s leading social entrepreneurs, business leaders, policy makers, and other stakeholders.
