10-20 hours per week (flexible)

Description:

HELP, in collaboration with the developer Openflows Community Technology Cooperative, is looking for assistance in expanding the functionality of their Student Information System (SIS), Baz La (The Base, in Haitian Creole).

Built on Drupal 7.x and CiviCRM 5.x, Baz La is used in all areas of HELP's day-to-day work in Haiti, archiving student data and providing for coordination and communication among staff, academic advisors, administrators, teachers, current students and alumni. Future phases will integrate Moodle Courseware and Koha ILS code bases which are also currently in use at HELP.

The intern will be asked to participate in the development of custom Drupal modules and/or CiviCRM extensions to enhance the existing features of Baz La. This could involve working on existing custom code or creation of new modules/extensions, depending on the skills and interests of the intern.

The intern will participate in planning, testing and development of functionality. They will be required to document their code for other developers and possibly end users as well. We will do our best to adjust the mix of tasks to the skills the intern has coming in as well as what they hope to learn from the internship.

All work will be released under either the GPL or AGPL Free Software/Open Source licenses. The intern will retain rights under the licenses to re-use, repurpose and share their code as they see fit, provided use is compliant with the license.
