The purpose of this role is to develop and manage individual and company donor relationships to grow unrestricted funding, apply for grants to ensure financial sustainability of our Education Programmes and to advise on the fundraising potential of the organisation with a view to attract wider support for La Choza Chula. The Fundraising Coordinator will also provide administrative support to the Executive Director and work with the Management Team on key marketing and communication material for existing and potential donors. 

In this role you will grow and develop the La Choza Chula supporter database and engagement on email newsletters and social media channels, ensuring the best levels of fundraising performance, all while living in a beautiful coastal community in Guatemala. We have a small, high-performing team with extensive possibilities for growth. The Fundraising Coordinator should have an appetite to help us reach new and diverse audiences, which grow our supporter base and unrestricted income.

Essential

  • Experience of working in a fundraising environment and/ or growing income from
  • community sources and grant applications
  • Experience of delivering high quality supporter/ customer care
  • Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers and peers and under the direction of the Executive Director
  • Ability to flexibly maneuver through cross cultural and multilingual work environments 
  • Fluent English  
  • Intermediate Spanish (written and spoken)
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and organize a heavy workload, work autonomously on own initiative both reactively and proactively
  • Experience working with people of different backgrounds, nationalities and ages
  • Experience working in a different culture from that of your home country
  • People-focused with excellent communication, facilitation and diplomatic skills, with the ability to lead by example  
  • High levels of integrity and sound judgement 
  • Good IT literacy (Microsoft Office suite and databases)
  • The ability to deal with conflict and overcome challenges
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills with real attention to detail
  • Knowledge of social media, with an aptitude for writing creative and engaging content
  • A self-starter, capable of working independently, as well as part of a team
  • Determined and results-focused, with a track record of achieving targets
  • High levels of energy and enthusiasm
  • Be open to change and demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach
