Who We Are:

City Blossoms fosters healthy communities through innovative, community-engaging programming and green spaces. Since 2008, City Blossoms has designed, developed, collaborated on, and provided programming or trainings for over 100 projects throughout Washington, DC and nationwide. Through our work with community-based organizations, neighborhood groups, schools, and learning centers, we serve all people, with a particular focus on under-resourced communities and Latino, African-American, and immigrant children. We serve neighborhoods in which children and youth may not otherwise have access to engaging green space.

Who You Are:

  • Highly motivated and passionate about gardening, community building, nonprofit work, and working with young people!
  • Able to work 20 hours per week Tuesday to Saturday from March 1 to May 29th, 2021. Ability to work in-person, outdoors at City Blossoms gardens is highly desired but not required.
  • Available to attend weekly staff meetings held on Tuesday afternoons.
  • Spanish speaking skills are highly desired.

What You’ll Do:

Each season, City Blossoms hires interns to assist with its programming and operations. Interns will have the opportunity to interact with staff, children, and community members. All of our internships are project based and can be tailored to your specific interests and goals. Experience how a grassroots organization executes program evaluation, fundraising, and grant management. Interns are supported through professional development opportunities tailored to their interests. This specific internship is a great opportunity for someone interested in nonprofit management and grassroots communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Support outreach and communication systems in collaboration with the Communications Manager.
  • Spearhead communication to and coordination of small group workdays with volunteer groups.
  • Manage weekly communications with regular, long-term volunteers. Collaborate with the Communications Manager, Director of Programming, and Community Green Spaces Coordinator to manage needs of each garden and volunteer capacity.
  • Document and support evaluation of volunteer program through data collection, photos, video, and recording stories from volunteers.
  • Provide support on ongoing day-to-day projects in collaboration with the Communication Manager.

We are looking for highly motivated, organized candidates with a passion for gardening, community building and the arts. City Blossoms is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation or age.
