The Department of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Beth Israel's internship program is specifically geared towards individuals seeking to improve their resume in their pursuit of an advanced degree in Psychology or Psychiatry. The program involves a 20 hour/week, 1 calendar year commitment.
Interns will have ample opportunity to gain hands-on clinical and research experience at the hospital through participation in weekly walking rounds on hospital inpatient units, attending weekly Grand Rounds presentations and departmental research meetings, and directly participating in a research project and writing and submitting for publication a research paper.
The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent interpersonal skills, as this job entails extensive interfacing and communication with research study participants and patients. A successful candidate will have superb organizational/computer skills and demonstrate initiative toward the successful and organized completion of our studies.
The Research Intern is involved in all aspects of the study pertaining to study participants, including but not limited to recruitment, correspondence, scheduling, and assessment. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, motivated, have an interest in speaking with mentally ill patients, and have a high level of professionalism. He/she will administer assessments, assist in data entry and coordinate participant reimbursement.
Please note that you may be placed at one of several Mount Sinai Health System's locations (e.g. Beth Israel, Mount Sinai West, St. Luke's, Elmhurst).
Clinical experience, extensive suicide risk assessment training, opportunity to attend Rounds, as well as to work on posters and manuscripts.
