The Horatio Alger Association is seeking a paid summer intern to join our Educational Programs team by assisting with a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, administrative, written, and social media tasks.

The Horatio Alger Association is a non-profit organization that provides scholarship assistance and mentoring services to deserving young people who have demonstrated integrity, determination in overcoming adversity, academic potential, and the personal aspiration to make a unique contribution to society. We are one of the largest need-based scholarship programs in the United States and, since 1984, have awarded over $125 million dollars in college scholarships. Our Association inducts lifetime Members who serve as contemporary role models who exemplify that opportunities for a successful life are available to all individuals who exhibit integrity, hard work, perseverance, and compassion for others.
What we're looking for:
Applicants with excellent interpersonal, organizational, writing, and time management skills, as well as the ability to multitask. Individuals with an interest in nonprofit and/or education fields preferred. College students or recent college graduates are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of Salesforce is helpful, but not required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Assist in administration of scholarship disbursements for National, State, CTE, and Specialized Scholars (correspondence and disbursement management)
· Maintain and update student files in Salesforce database
· Assist with preparation of program reports for funders
· Assist with mailings
· Assist with data entry
· Additional duties as assigned
The office is located in Old Town Alexandria and is accessible via the Metro. Parking is also available.
