At the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), we advocate for public policies that advance innovation, open markets, and enable the transformational economic, societal, and commercial opportunities that our companies create. Our members represent the entire spectrum of technology: from internet companies, to hardware and networking equipment manufacturers, to software developers. ITI’s diverse membership and expert staff provide a broad perspective and intelligent insight in confronting the implications and opportunities of policy activities around the world.

Come join the Government Affairs Team:

ITI offers a Fellowship Program with the Government Affairs team.  The Government Affairs team manages ITI’s advocacy and lobbying efforts in the United States with focusing on a broad spectrum of tech policy areas and Congressional activity.  The Government Affairs team seeks a qualified graduate student interested in tech policy to further their academic and career development in a policy advocacy organization. The Government Affairs Team Positions are available for academic credit or an hourly wage of $17/hour with a 25-hour workweek from Monday-Friday. Summer Term: 6/7/21 - 8/14/21Application Deadline: 3/31/21. 

Your responsibilities:

●       Monitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and policy proposals at the United States federal level.

●       Maintain tracking sheets for policy developments, industry contacts, and other data as necessary. 

●       Assist in drafting policy summaries, strategic recommendations, fact sheets, position papers, letters, comments, and other written materials for policymakers.

●       Assist in the drafting of written policy and advocacy products for ITI members.

●       Produce summaries of Congressional or Executive Branch hearings and other external events on a wide range of technology issues.

●       Attend and provide event support for advocacy events such as roundtables with Members of Congress, Congressional staff, and Administration officials.

●       Compile data and other information for research projects.

Your qualifications:

●       Applied and accepted into a Master’s degree program focused on political science, public policy, international affairs/relations, trade, economics, technology policy (e.g., cybersecurity), relevant STEM field (e.g., engineering, computer science), business, communications, marketing, or a related field;

o  Also eligible are students enrolled in a legal or professional (e.g., JD/LLM) degree program focused on international business, international trade, consumer protection, data/privacy, or technology-related field;

●       Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of technology policy;

●       Open source research and analytical expertise;

●       Writing, editing, and verbal communication skills; and

●       Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 required
