Position Title:               Communications and Marketing Intern – RRCRC Food Security Social Enterprises

Job Type:                         Three month short-term contract, part-time (30 hours/week)

Training period:          February 26 – March 16 (90 hours)

Start date:                     March 18th , 2021

End date:                        May 27th , 2021

Wage:                              ($18/hour)

JOB SUMMARY


Under the supervision of the Ottawa Good Food Box Project Officer, the Communications and Marketing           Intern will work to promote the Ottawa Good Food Box and MarketMobile, manage the social media channels, and assist with content creation for various marketing activities. In this position, the intern will gain skills in project management, social media, and design.



ELEGIBILITY CRITERIA

You can apply if you meet the following criteria to become a participant of the Youth Job Connection – CORE program hosted by the Youth Service Bureau: 

  • Be between the ages of 18 and 29 years old;
  • Be unemployed
  • Be a resident of Ontario and eligible to work
  • Not enrolled in full-time education or training
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a newcomer with a work permit (without restrictions);
  • Not have an active service plan with another Employment Ontario service provider
  • Provide a Police Check
  • Have a registered Social Insurance Number (SIN).


PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


A.                 Social Media

  • Create content for various social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) by taking pictures and designing graphics
  • Monitor accounts and respond to activity from our followers
  • Increase the following and engagement rate of each platform
  • Track and report on platform analytics

 

B.                 Marketing & Communications

  • Create marketing campaigns for the OGFB and MM
  • Create a weekly newsletter for all subscribers highlighting OGFB, MM customer updates
  • Establish mutually-beneficial partnerships with members of the community
  • Analyze online traffic on website to identify marketing opportunities
  • Analyze consumer trends and suggest new product or service opportunities
  • Assist with content creation for website blog and social media platforms (e.g. blog posts, recipes).

C.        Other duties

  • Additional tasks may be required
  • Work closely with OGFB Project Officer
  • Report regularly to OGFB Project Officer and as required

D.     Online Store Administration

  • Preparing online store product pages
  • Invoicing
  • Delivery system management
  • Data entry (Excel)
  • Other tasks, as needed. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary education and/or experience in communications, marketing, journalism and social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of local food systems and principles of food security
  • Clear understanding of issues of poverty, diversity and marginalization
  • Intermediate computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Social Media  MailChimp, Hootsuite, and Canva
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to work remotely (access to internet and personal computer) with the possibility of working from RRCRC’s location at 815 Laurent Blvd. occasionally
  • Fluency in both English and French is required.
