    Job Type: Intern

    Location: Remote / Occasional On-Site Event Attendance

    Organization: Flex Dance Program (FDP)

    Mission: Bringing free dance education and expression to youth in and out of detention

    Position Overview

    Flex Dance Program (FDP) is seeking a creative, driven, and highly organized Part-Time Marketing Director (Contractor) to lead and implement our marketing efforts in support of our mission to provide free dance programming to youth impacted by the justice system. This position plays a key role in shaping how we engage our community, build partnerships, and amplify the voices of our participants through storytelling, events, and digital content.

    The ideal candidate will bring strong marketing expertise, social media savvy, and strategic thinking to help elevate FDP's visibility, engage diverse audiences, and promote our impact. This is a dynamic, part-time contractor role that requires independence, excellent communication, and a passion for social justice and youth empowerment through the arts.

    Key Responsibilities

    Marketing & Communications Strategy

    • Develop with the Executive Director and Consultant execute with intern support, and assess comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with FDP’s mission and programming goals
    • Create and maintain a content calendar across channels (social media, newsletters, blogs, and more)
    • Promote Flex Talks, Flex Challenges, and program events with compelling, community-driven content

    Digital Engagement & Social Media

    • Manage and grow FDP’s social media presence (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
    • Host or coordinate engagement activities such as Flex Talks, Flex Challenges, and live check-ins (e.g., Instagram Live) with the support of interns
    • Monitor analytics and performance metrics to optimize reach and engagement

    Email Marketing & Content Creation

    • Design and distribute regular newsletters and announcements using Mailchimp
    • Maintain and organize the content and asset library (photos, videos, copy) in Google Drive

    Brand Partnerships & Sponsorships

    • Research and compile potential sponsors, donors, and community collaborators
    • Assist in developing sponsorship decks and partnership presentations
    • Help maintain and expand a contact list for FDP outreach and engagement

    Program Promotion & Event Support

    • Collaborate with team to publicize program sessions and community events
    • Support FDP team during live and virtual events as needed
    • Capture stories and testimonials from events to use in marketing materials

    Requirements

    • Proficiency in social media platforms, Mailchimp, Zoom, Google Drive, and Microsoft Office Suite
    • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
    • Strong time-management, organizational skills, and attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to a fast-paced environment
    • Discretion, professionalism, and ability to handle confidential information
    • A strong network and knowledge of cultural, youth, or community-based spaces is a plus

    Education:

    • High School diploma required
    • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, PR or something relevant to the position

    Schedule & Commitment

    • Flexible, remote-based hours with weekly check-ins
    • Must be available to attend select FDP events (virtually or in person depending on location)
    • Estimated time commitment: 10–15 hours per week, with seasonal increases during campaigns or events
