The Alliance for Retired Americans is seeking a bright, energetic intern to work in our Communications and Government and Political Affairs Departments during the summer. The Alliance works with retired activists around the country to organize grassroots activism around a progressive political and economic agenda. Interning for the organization is a great way to gain exposure to the exciting world of politics, communications, and field work as well as the labor movement. Interns' responsibilities include:


Communications - Compile press clips and track coverage for references to retiree issues - Develop social media postings - Write media advisories for state events - Create press lists - Write for newsletter & web site and post new material - Review web site for possible changes - Work with field staff around the country to implement field plans


Government and Political Affairs - Prepare materials related to 2018 elections - Attend Congressional hearings of relevance to the organization - Work with Alliance members in key Congressional districts on recess activities - Research/update data for fact sheets and web site - Respond to Alliance members' inquiries - Work with coalition partners to further organization's objectives - Attend progressive coalition meetings with/on behalf of department staff - Assist with candidate endorsement process
