5-10 hours per week for the duration of the Spring 2020 semester

OVERVIEW: The Policy and Logistics Intern will work closely with the Director of Policy and Outreach to keep track of legislation relevant to Peace Action New York State’s work and develop materials to help educate and mobilize our membership base across the state, as well as help with the logistics for upcoming conferences and lobby visits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Regularly update our social media and website pages
  • Create and update advocacy materials such as call scripts, fact sheets, etc.  
  • Report back to team on policy developments and relevant news articles
  • Participate on relevant conference calls
  • Help draft action alerts and other communications  
  • Engage with community chapters and community partners by attending relevant events
  • Help update lobby packets
  • Help draft outreach to media and aid in updating our media contact lists
  • Help with the travel, lodging, and meeting logistics for upcoming conferences and lobby meetings

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A current undergraduate student at a university in NYC
  • A passion for social justice and foreign policy and an understanding of Peace Action New York State’s mission and values
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience in advocacy or policy work is preferred

WHO WE ARE: Peace Action Fund of New York State is the state-affiliate of Peace Action, the nation’s largest grassroots peace advocacy organization. We work to support refugee resettlement, promote human rights, support survivor-centered advocacy to end war, abolish nuclear weapons, stop arms deals to nations committing war crimes, and redirect defense spending back into our communities and to programs that address the root causes of terrorism and climate change.

This internship requires 10-15 hours per week. The Policy and Advocacy intern will receive a $500 stipend at the end of the semester.
