At least a 4 months committment, we are flexible as per start and end date.

Maya Traditions is a Fair Trade Social Enterprise and registered nonprofit located in Panajachel, a small town on Lake Atitlán, Guatemala. Since the late 1980s, Maya Traditions has been partnering with indigenous women artisans to bring traditionally-produced textiles to the global marketplace. Our purpose is to support women artisans, their families, and their communities through Fair Trade and Social Programs while helping to preserve and promote their ancestral culture.

Fair Trade Program: In collaboration with our artisan partners and international clients, we create handcrafted Fair Trade products. Our Fair Trade model is guaranteed by the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO). We are guided by the 10 Principles of Fair Trade, which allow us to create high-quality products while respecting the fundamental human rights of our artisan partners and providing them with dignified and culturally appropriate livelihoods.

Ethical Travel Program: As a nonprofit social enterprise, we continually seek to support our artisan partners by offering workshops, day tours, and week long excursions to visitors. These tourism activities work to build capacity, educate on and preserve local culture, and bring income directly to the artisan’s communities.

Community Programs: Our social initiatives focus on: Artisan Development, Community Health, and Youth Education. Each of these initiatives strive to support artisans, their families, and their communities for improved lifelong health, a chance to break out of gender gaps, and a better quality of life.
