Project Bread is looking for an intern with data visualization and research skills who can help the organization gather, update and map all datasets currently used in Project Bread. This person will also be working with different departments to identify current data and gaps in data that may be useful for decision-making in Project Bread's program, communication, and policy.

 

 This position is a paid position ideal for a person interested in deepening their knowledge in data analysis, research, and visualization and how this data is used to inform decision-making in the organization's program, communication, and policy.

 

This internship may be a good opportunity for grant students to fulfill internship or practicum requirements. 


 

Tasks

  • Gather all the data sets currently used in Project Bread.
  • Support data stewards in the dataset's maintenance (cleaning and updating). 
  • Lead internal conversations with different departments to establish how each data set is used.
  • Research other data that may complement the current information being managed at Project Bread.
  • Map the sets of data that have been identified as vital for Project Bread's team using Tableau software.


 

Preferred Skills

To effectively perform the duties of this position, we are looking for a candidate with

  • Experience conducting research and data analysis. 
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting, including familiarity with Excel and Tableau software.
  • Ability to collaborate with departments and stakeholders with different background experience.
  • Ability to function independently, but also to seek guidance when needed. 
  • Feel comfortable reaching out to team members and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with food insecurity, food equity, health equity, etc.


 

Time commitment

We recognize that this large-scale project could be executed in different stages. We are open to accommodating the capacity and time commitment of the applicants. We can host this internship for the Summer of 2022, or the duration from one semester to one academic year.
