Description

In order to provide additional support to our students with disabilities we are seeking a Special Education Assistant (internship). Here at the School of Hope, we know that not all students learn in the same manner, however; all students deserve the same access to high quality education that works for them. Because of this, we are beginning an inclusive education model where we seek to have special education assistants working in the classrooms to support our students.


Minimum Commitment: 1 month minimum

Hours: 7:45 - 2:30pm (Days can vary)


As a special education assistant, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, such as:

  • Helping individual students on a one-to-one basis
  • Working with students in small groups
  • Designing and creating educational materials
  • Collaborating with the classroom teacher to set goals for these students
  • Recording and inputting data to track the progress of these students
  • Supporting the Special Education coordinator and teachers on day to day tasks


Requirements:

  • Experience working with students with physical and/or mental disabilities
  • Experience tutoring or teaching
  • A flexible approach to work
  • The ability to work as part of a team but also on your own initiative
  • Positive outlook and flexibility
  • Enjoy working with children and have an appreciation of the pressures and demands within the academic work environment


Language Requirements: Intermediate level of Spanish required
