The American Battlefield Trust, the nation’s largest nonprofit dedicated to battlefield preservation, seeks a qualified intern to support the Development Department. This position is a part-time, paid, remote role commencing in late May/early June with the opportunity to continue into the fall. Local candidate to Washington, DC preferred as the internship would convert from remote to in-person once conditions allow.  This internship is open to both students and post-graduates. Individuals with interest in a career in fundraising and/or the non-profit sector are highly encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities

·        Assist Development Managers and Assistant with major donor program, including mailings and member management

·        Support Development Manager in prospective donor research

·        Help Senior Associate for Planned Giving with data entry and other tasks

·        Assist with general donor stewardship efforts

·        Use, maintain and update EveryAction donor database (previous database experience not required)

·        Aid department in editing and proofreading donor correspondence, emails and other materials

·        Help Development staff with digital event planning and coordination

·        Perform general administrative duties as needed, including digital filing, data entry, and membership mailings

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·        Strong research and organizational skills

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs

·        Interest in history, conservation, historic preservation and the American Battlefield Trust’s mission
